Sunday Morning Coffee: May 5, 2019

A beautiful garden of tulips

It’s been pretty cold, gray week here in Boston, with most days overcast and drizzly. On my walk yesterday morning, I saw this garden full of brilliantly colored flowers, which was a breath of fresh air, even as it was lightly raining and 50 degrees.

What I’m reading and enjoying this week:

A Harvard linguist’s tips on writing

An interactive graph about millennials and paychecks

I’m so motivated by this: Combating fat phobia in YA lit

And including bigger bodies in YA lit

The impact of #OwnVoices

A new podcast I’m into: The Cut on Tuesdays

And speaking of podcasts (!!!)

Young readers ask questions of David Wallace-Wells, author of The Uninhabitable Earth

This avocado and cucumber salad (turned into wraps) for lunch

Menu Plan: What I’m cooking and eating this week

(In case you need ideas and inspiration)

Sunday: chicken picatta via Bon Appetit over spaghetti with broccoli (though we used chicken thighs)
Monday: Leftovers
Tuesday: Thai panang curry with tofu via Cookie & Kate (I did buy the special panang curry but wasn’t super sure I could taste the difference. I think any red curry paste would still work well.)
Wednesday: Veggie burgers with cheese, roasted potatoes, and broccoli slaw
Thursday: Rotisserie chicken, rice pilaf, and green beans (an exhausting day with limited groceries on hand… we punted last-minute on this one)
Friday: Leftovers
Saturday: Penne with chicken and broccoli in a creamy sauce, side salads
